Fucking brilliant 😂 I chuckled a lot reading this, what a fun ride.
For some strange reason, I got really fixated on Jesus dying at 33 as well, and threw myself a Jesus-themed birthday party when I reached that age. Hey, we made it. Bigger than Jesus, both of us!
Superb post Georgina. One of my top 3 favorite films is Forrest Gump. I laugh like an idiot and cry like a baby every time I watch it. I know every scene, every line. There is a very sad scene at Jenny's gravesite where he's talking to her and one of the things he says is something pretty close to this. "I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time." That may just be the answer. Once again, really enjoyed this. - Jim
I try to remind myself don't have to have it all figured out. Which is good, because I constantly have that "the older I get the less I know" feeling, so I can't possibly be held responsible for my lack of understanding. I hope.
Happy Birthday, Georgina! I looked ahead to the year 2000 in which I would be...33 years old!!...and was always sure I would be dead by then, as 33 was so fucking ancient. So I know how silly it feels to suddenly achieve such a ripe old age and not die. 9 year olds are generally rather weird.
This is reminding me of Mark Romanek's 1985 film, Static, where Keith Gordon is convinced there are messages in the static in his TV screen and Amanda Plummer wants to believe him but doesn't see it. I rather love that film.
I don't know what the point of it all is either, Georgina, but I really enjoyed reading!

Definitely older than Jesus, at least! Thanks for the kind comment - glad you enjoyed it!
Hehe , made me laugh 😆
Thanks Francis!
Happy Birthday. I’m glad you got 20 years on Jesus. It meant you perfected the hair. Far better than his.
Welcome to the 53 club. It has old members. X
"Better hair than Jesus" is a brilliant blurb for my substack. Thanks Margaret! We may be old but we are excellent.

Thanks Jim! I don't think I've ever seen Forrest Gump (I know!) But I like the thought that the answer might be both - or all - things at once.
I beg you to watch it. I’m down on my one good knee, head down…pleading you to watch it, haha. Actually, I’m only half kidding around. - Jim
I'll give it a whirl, Jim, on your recommendation!
Makes my day, truly.
I decided I wasn't going to make it past 27 (bit obvious for such an apparently imaginative child). Fucked that one up, didn't I?
Yep! We all seem to have made a mess of this one!

Also, Happy Birthday! I too am older than Jesus.
I am keen on shirking as much responsibility as possible! Thanks Lyndsey 🧡

Loved this!
Thanks Sheila! It's so weird, isn't it? The year 2000 seemed very much like the unforeseeable future. Let alone 2025. I couldn't imagine it at all!
I know, Georgina-we totally live in the future
Happy 53rd blessed birthday, Georgina to you and your dickhead of a soul. Let’s party! 🥳
Thanks Sara! And if by "party" you mean "eat crisps and go to bed early" I am all in!
That’s EXACTLY what I mean 🤠
😂
I’m fucked if I know what’s going on. I suspect whatever it is, it has nothing to do with anything our chimp brains come up with.
I’m not even sure if any of the after life stories we come up with sounds at all appealing.
I’m nice to dogs and recycle, so I clearly deserve something nice.
Maybe a recycled dog? I am generally suspicious of anyone who claims to know what's going on. But it would be nice for some of it to make some sense!
Maybe dogs know? Once they’ve finished researching who’s a good boy they’ll work on the after life
Aww. Dogs definitely have a better approach to all this than most humans do!
They do, they’re very wise and live in the moment. They also eat poo and hump random furry objects, so maybe not entirely wise.
I had the idea I was going to die and age 55. I'm still highly pissed off about the fact I did not!
Brilliant post!
Thanks Rea! I'm glad you're still with us :)

Thanks Wendy! I've not seen that film but it sounds like something I'd enjoy!
we were very similar children..! who knew.
Great minds think alike!
